Teachers of Truth. |
|
My heart fills with joy and deepest gratitude for the many, many inspiring and helpful teachers of Truth who have appeared in this lifestream. Thanks to them, I've come to know that the Holy Spirit is my constant Teacher and He speaks to me through each person I meet. This is a blessing beyond words. In my path, the experience of Truth comes from seventeen years of daily study and practice of A Course in Miracles, for which I am completely grateful. It is my core teaching and practice. How else would I have learned that God did not create the world I see, and that salvation comes from forgiving it completely? Thank you, Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford, for your courage and care to scribe and type this transmission from beyond the world. And thank you, Jesus, for your love for us, your brothers, and your Self. The possibility of finding another way to be and to experience reality was awakened in me in 1972, by Moses Libitsky, who recommended The Book by Alan Watts. I listened to Alan's tapes on KSAN and read his books and books by Krishnamurti and Meher Baba. I remember reading a book by Krishnamurti on the train going to work one morning. The word "freedom" popped out strongly from a page, and I knew instantly and deeply that Freedom was all I really wanted. I was brought to the A Course in Miracles in the mid '80s by the books by Jerry Jampolsky and by the Center for Attitudinal Healing, at a time when I had lost all hope of happiness. What luck! Closely related companion books by Brent Haskell, Journey Beyond Words, and The Other Voice, have been important and very helpful. Marianne Williamson in her books and her lectures has given important inspiration and insight to many students of ACIM, including me. The study and practice of A Course in Miracles has opened me to teachings from a number of additional, complementary sources: I'm fortunate to have a partner, Donna Landon, a professional life coach, with whom I study the Course on a daily basis. The Twelve Steps, written down one night in 1938, by Bill W., have become the basis for recovery and spiritual awakening for millions of people. The Steps parallel quite closely the practices of the Course. Gangaji is an inspiring teacher in the lineage of Papaji and Ramana Maharshi. I've had a number of peak experiences in her presence and at her retreats. Gangaji declares, "This lifetime is committed to the perhaps impossible task of all aspects of Being awakening to itSelf." Her books and tapes are gentle, yet powerful, tools to coach me to be still and to inquire into my true Self. Neelam is another beautiful teacher in this lineage. The Foundation for Community Encouragement, founded by M. Scott Peck, offered experiential workshops in emptying oneself of judgments, and joining in grace with others. I've also been blessed with the miraculous experience of direct, personal visions which have informed me and inspired me. Most recently, the remarkable book, The Power of NOW, by Eckhart Tolle has added depth to my practice and understanding, and Michael Beckwith and Julia Butterfly Hill have provided inspiring demonstrations of utmost love and caring. A final note, perhaps more worldly, is about the dedication of those who express Love in their vocations. Grant Peterson is the designer of bicycles of the greatest functionality and craftsmanship. It is a fine meditation and expression of inner happiness and joy to ride around in this illusory world on my Rivendell bicycle. Should you wish to contact me, my e-mail address is: |
